As of 2001 India census[1], Kiratpur had a population of 55,310. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Kiratpur has an average literacy rate of 45%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 49%, and female literacy is 39%. In Kiratpur, 19% of the population is under 6 years of age.

There are few secondary and senior secondary schools in the town.Hindu Inter college,Mahatma Gandhi Muslim Inter Collage,Lala Dhaniram Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College,Two Saraswati Shishu Mandir Schools, Kanya Ucchatar Madhyamic Vidyalaya (AKA Kanya Pathshala), Madni Inter College and St.Peter's School are some of well known schools in the area. Most of the schools provide education in Hindi medium.
There are ample schools for education up to intermediate, but there is only one degree college, Rama College of Education, which provides graduate degree in Commerce and Education. So there is lack of degree colleges in the town. Students have to move to Bijnor or Najibabad for getting higher education.
St.Peter's School was established in 1980 by the Education Society of the Catholic Diocese of Bijnor. It worked as subordinate institution of St.Mary's School, Bijnor, and functioned as a primary school up to Class IV until 2007. The Education Society then upgraded the school to a high school. This school is pledged to provide good quality of education till 8th standard.
Green Field Public School is affiliated to CBSE Delhi till Std. XII. Other schools that offer education up to Std. X/XII include St. Marys School, Modern Era School and Dayawati Dharamvira Public School.
Colleges in the town include Hindu Inter College,MGMPM Inter college, Rama Institute of Higher Education, Madnee Inter College. (A.K.C). etc.

There are many markets here as clothmarchants, Jewellers (Saraffa Bazar). Many of the people of Bijnor came here get the cloths, jewellery, masale, and many usable things from here. Social life is really wonderful here as two communities live here with harmony and enjoy each other festivals like Ram Leela, Deepawali, Eid ul Fitr etc... When it comes to entertainment, Kiratpur city offers a lot, like cricket tournaments are held almost once or twice a month, game of Carrom is a passion here, many talented players play the game at a national level and made a history for the town. Kabaddi and Volleyball tournamenents are held here many times a year.
